The Redding Elks Lodge #1073, in partnership with the Redding Emblem Club #515, hosted the 11th Annual Trick or Treat event on Sunday afternoon, October 25, 2026, from 1 to 3 p.m.  The Lodge opened its doors to the public for a fun and safe event.  Drug awareness literature, drug awareness-themed activity, and coloring books, along with Logo pencils (about the dangers of drugs), were handed out as the kids, parents, and grandparents toured the dining room, visiting decorated tables.

Additionally, a DJ was on hand (Monster Mash anyone?) as was lots of lemonade, therapy dogs, free books, an obstacle course, the famous “Tunnel of Terror” and, of course, lots-and-lots-of-candy.  Nearly 800 kiddos were counted as they arrived, all dressed for the occasion.

And if all that wasn't enough, the Redding Fire Department was on hand (in between running calls), showing off their engine and allowing the kids to climb aboard as they waited to enter the Lodge. The best parts were a visit from Elroy “T” Elk (the Elks Drug Awareness Program mascot) and all the red ribbons given out with this year’s theme: A Healthy Me Is Drug Free Me.

Editor’s note:  Dawn Pedersen is a past president and past trustee of the Redding Emblem Club #515 and Redding Elks Lodge #515, respectively.
