Public Invited To Veterans Day Cognac Toast, At 11am, Redding Elks Lodge

Lunch By Redding Emblem Club At 11:30, Veterans Eat Free

The Redding Elks Lodge #1073 is asking the public to take time out of their day, on Tuesday morning, November 11, 2025, to attend the annual Veterans Day Toast, which begins at 11 and is free and open to the public. The Redding Emblem Club, under the direction of its president, Marie Sparks, will serve a lunch, from 11:30 to one p.m., of beef tips and noodles, salad, garlic bread and dessert.  Cost is $12 and includes sales tax.  Moreover, the meal is complimentary for Veterans (with verification of service).

According to Harry Bouge, the Public Relations Chairperson for Redding Elks Lodge #1073, the annual Veterans Day Cognac Toast began in 1928 and recognizes the end of World War I (1914-‘18).  There are 330 Elks Lodges, throughout the USA, that host annual Veterans Day Cognac Toasts, Bouge added, which serve to bolster Elks’ ongoing efforts to connect with veterans and military members in their communities, providing them with services where they live.

The annual Veterans Day Cognac Toast will not be without the proper “pomp & circumstance,” as its Chairperson, Sherry Davis, has arranged  for Pat Carr, a former Exalted Ruler of the Redding Elks, to serve as Master of Ceremonies.  Additionally, Davis said, an honor guard from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9650 in Anderson, will fire a rifle salute and a bugler will play Taps.
