Ortega’s Mexican Restaurant Establishes Admirable Legacy And Loyal Following

For literally a generation (18 years!), Ortega’s Mexican Restaurant, with a stand-alone location on Deschutes Road in Palo Cedro, California,  immediately south of the 44 freeway, led by proprietors, Jacinto and Eduwiges Ortega, with son Emanuel Miranda in tow, has firmly established a legacy of flavorful delights, excellent service and, perhaps most importantly……………a bevy of loyal followers.

Read what one such devotee, Palo Cedro Area  Chamber of Commerce president, Travis Gilbert, had this to say vis-a-vis Ortega’s Mexican Restaurant:  “If you are looking for great Mexican food, Ortega’s Mexican Restaurant is one of our favorite places to go.  This family-oriented restaurant really focuses on originality and homestyle cooking, and you can taste the difference.  The food is always fresh, full of flavor & consistently delicious. No matter what you order, you will not be disappointed.”

Gilbert’s accolades continue:  “They’ve been proud Chamber members for many years, and they truly care about supporting not only the local community, but also the entirety of our beloved North State.  Ortega’s is always willing to “step up” when help is needed.  They’ve supported many local events, through sponsorships and donations, and are always willing to “give back.”  That kind of support makes a big difference and shows what type of people the Ortegas are.  It is always nice to support a family-owned restaurant that not only serves great food but also gives back to the community.  The Palo Cedro community, as well as its Chamber, appreciates everything the Ortegas do… and we’ll continue to support them whenever we can.  If you have not tried Ortega’s yet, the Chamber highly recommends that you stop by and see why so many people enjoy Ortega’s,” Gilbert concludes.

Ortega’s popular menu items are varied, including Tacos de Tortillas en Maíz, Fajitas Hawaiian, and Molcajete Volcán.  Ortega’s seafood (Camaron)  options include Garlic Shrimp, Cortel de Camaron, and Grilled Salmon.  Bernie Gutierrez, who’s  a Community Relations Specialist with the Shasta Community Health Center,  and a former Palo Cedro resident, remarks, “When I first enter Ortega’s, Jacinto and Eduwiges greet me like I’m 'familia.”  They are bilingual, and so am I, so we exchange pleasantries and our family’s history.  I have been going there over 15 years.  They’ve been generous in sponsoring a lot of our local sports teams and being involved with the community in general.  My favorite dish is an Enchilada con Chile Rellenos.  Yum yum; I would give them an 11 out of 10!  I would like to add that they’ve raised three children and all have earned college degrees and, just like their parents, give back to the community. The  Palo Cedro population has been very willing to support Ortega’s because Ortega’s has been very willing to support Palo Cedro,” Gutierrez concludes.

Ortega’s Mexican Restaurant is open Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to  9 p.m. and on Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 8 p.m.  They are closed on Sundays.  For take-out, please call Ortega’s at 530-547-8989.
