With a gaggle of paddle and rowing enthusiasts participating—and competing—the Lake Redding Regatta, for a third straight year following an 85-year hiatus, and with a stunning backdrop of the historic Dieselhorst Bridge spanning the Sacramento River, concluded its two-day run on Sunday, August 2, 2026.
Hosted by Visit Redding, in partnership with the Shasta Historical Society, the Lake Redding Regatta attracted over 50 rowing and paddle enthusiasts competing in Stand Up Paddle (SUP), kayak, canoe, tandem, and crew boat.

And cheering them on from the concrete stands were plenty of friends, family members, and just plain interested onlookers, obviously enjoying the opportunity to be in the great North State outdoors, particularly Redding, California, often touted as being the sunniest city in the United States of America.

Of course, there were plenty of vendors, food trucks, services, and mementos, as well as plenty of time to listen and/or dance to the live music sounds of The Hook Band and the Night Magic Band, both of which entertained throughout the two-day event.
According to Danny Orloff, who’s the Tourism Marketing Director for Visit Redding, the event’s extensive list of sponsors includes: Enterprise Lions Club; City of Redding; Fall River Brewing; Two Guys and a Grill; Revive Cold Plunge and Sauna; Izzy Law Offices; Headwaters Kayak; Active Physical Therapy; Zack Bay State Farm Insurance; and the Redding Chamber of Commerce.
