If you weren’t front and center on Sunday, 10-18-‘26, for the 1st annual Gaia Hotel “Bikes For Kids” Car Show and Brunch, you missed Ted Blankenheim thanking everyone for coming and explaining to the classic car crowd gathered around that the show proceeds would go towards the purchasing, storing, and distribution of new bicycles for youth in need, including those in foster care.

According to Blankenheim, who founded Bikes For Kids in 2003, they will begin distributing hundreds of new bikes after Thanksgiving, once they’re sorted and categorized by size and age group.  “We’re fortunate, through the tremendous generosity of Shasta County-ians, to have given out more than 8,000 bikes over twenty-three years, as we partner with other groups, such as Youth and Family Programs, Kool April Nites, Gaia Hotel & Spa and Budget Blinds…to achieve our goals,” concludes Blankenheim.

“This year’s Bikes for Kids Car Show at the Gaia Hotel and Spa was such a wonderful experience!  Seeing over 50 cars show up to support local foster youth was a beautiful reminder of just how amazing our North State community is,” said local marketing professional Shantasy England. “A huge thank you to Ted Blankenheim for creating such a meaningful fundraiser.”

England concludes her remarks:  “And a special thank you to Mark Caruso and Norman Nelson for thinking of me and including me in something so close to my heart.  I truly appreciate both Mark and Norman…..and I feel lucky to have been part of Bikes for Kids, which is something about much more than beautiful cars, trucks and motorcycles.  It’s about coming together—GIVING BACK—and reminding these kids that their community cares.  I’m already looking forward to next year!”
