100+ coats donated in 5 hours If you’ve just recently arrived to live in the North State, generally defined as the 15 to 20 “mostly rural”  counties north of Sacramento, or even if you’re a tourist, one thing you’ll surely quickly learn is that the people of the North State, especially Shasta County-ians, are a generous bunch. Mother Nature came through with gorgeous “only in the North State” weather, as she unfolded clear skies and plentiful sunshine for an appreciative throng attending a recent ribbon cutting to formally open a 105-year old (renovated!) home, for homeless Veterans, in Redding’s southwest corridor downtown area. Dare I Say Thank You America Veterans Day is observed annually on November 11th of each year. This year it falls on a Tuesday. The federal holiday honors all U.S. military veterans—those who served in wartime or peacetime, living or deceased. The date commemorates the armistice that ended World War I, which took effect November 11, 1918.
