Krystyna’s Polish American Restaurant: A Hidden—And Exclusive—Gem in Northern California

Just a short southward drive from Redding on Interstate 5, or even a longer northward drive out of Sacramento on the I-5 to Red Bluff, you will find a cozy and inviting eating and drinking establishment called Krystyna’s Polish American Restaurant.
Located in downtown Red Bluff at 620 Main Street, a few doors north of Antelope Boulevard, Krystyna’s was named after Krystyna Jolanta Kurowski, who was born in Sopot, Poland, in 1950 and emigrated to the United States in the early ‘8Os. Krystyna’s can best be described as a Polish comfort food haven.
According to Red Bluff-Tehama County Chamber of Commerce CEO, Dave Gowan, Krystyna’s is the only Polish American restaurant in Northern California, and Gowan describes why Krystyna’s is a hidden—and exclusive—gem in Northern California:
“One of the things I enjoy most about serving the Red Bluff-Tehama County community is highlighting businesses that offer something unique. Krystyna’s Polish American Restaurant is certainly one of those places. Krystyna’s owners, Jay, Agnes, and Robert, have created a dining experience unlike any other in Northern California,” Gowan explains, “And the food is authentically Polish, prepared with care and attention to detail. Since 2025, when Krystyna’s first opened, I’ve spoken with visitors from outside the Tehama County area who’ve visited Krystyna’s. More than once, they’ve said it tastes like home.”
“Gowan continues: “What also sets Krystyna’s apart is their commitment to serving organic, healthy ingredients whenever possible, from farmers right here in Red Bluff and throughout Tehama County, with local residents embracing Krystyna’s not only for its outstanding food, but also for its welcoming atmosphere,” Gowan concluded.
Gowan really nails it when he exults Krystyna’s welcoming atmosphere because, when my lovely wife, Cheryl, and I recently visited Krystyna’s for the first time, the first thing we saw upon entering Krystyna’s is a sign that says: ZAPRASZAMY, which means……..”We Welcome You.”
According to CEO Gowan, Krystyna’s has also developed a loyal following in the Bay Area, Southern California, Oregon, and Washington, with customers discovering Krystyna’s while traveling along Interstate 5 and
through Google Maps. For many, Krystyna’s becomes an unexpected highlight of their journey.
