The 3400 block of Larkspur Lane, in east Redding, was abuzz with classic car lovers, some with their kids and dogs in tow, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, to gape in awe—and appreciation—as still another Kool April Nites “Show ‘n Shine” car show unfolded on PAINT MARTS and INTERSTATE BATTERIES parking lots.
As is par for the course with KAN Show ‘n Shines, which have been happening throughout Shasta County since 1989, there were attendees/classic car owners from all over the North State, Southern California, and even from some western states. For instance,
Joe and Shawny Fredricks drove their pink 1971 Volkswagen Bus from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, to show it off in Redding, California.

Bob Cochran, who lived in Redding for 45 years before moving to Boise, Idaho, was ebullient when describing his Kelly green 1963 custom GMC truck. And then there was Rick and Donna Bryan, Reno, Nevada, residents, proudly showing off their absolutely stunning, black 1932 Ford coupe, built when the United States was transitioning from a Herbert Hoover presidency to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt administration. “Ah, the good ole days,” Rick Bryan surmised.

And making the trek, also from Reno, Nevada, was George Cole, with his custom 1949 Studebaker truck. And if you were there, you would’ve seen Redding residents, Kevin Harlan and Joe Keopholler, standing in front of —and admiring (sighing?)—a bright white circa ‘70s Bronco. And as if to “save-the-best-for-last,” upon exiting the KAN Show ‘n Shine, this writer/photographer came upon Redding residents, Ross and Diana Peacock, who were more than willing to describe their powder blue 1953 Buick, which they’ve owned for 30+ years and, you’ve guessed it….will never sell!
