The power of networking…..and the power of the press…..were on display at the Frontier Senior Center in Anderson, California, on Wednesday, February 11, ‘26, as the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce honored its new member, SHASTA UNFILTERED (SU) eNewspaper, an online publication that covers the North State counties of Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama and Trinity with honest news and entertainment.

Representatives from several dozen prominent businesses and nonprofits in Shasta and Tehama Counties attended, including Turtle Bay Exploration Park, Kool April Nites, Plumas Bank, Grocery Outlet, Great American Irish Fair, Golden Valley Bank, Rolling Hills Casino and Resort, the Mayor of Anderson (Dan Galler), Professional Exterminators, Anderson Family Fitness, Preston Sharp’s Flags n’ Flowers, Cottonwood Garden Club, Hampton Inn and Suites, Majestic River Properties, Mike Hernandez Media (calirednews.com), Edward Jones (Tyler Rowley), Marriott TownPlace Suites, Fathom Realty, Matrix Cards and Games, Cobex Construction Group, Tugwell Roofing, Michael’s Doggie Furnishings, Helping Hands by Sarah, Professional Images, Accounting Professionals, Redding Rancheria, Guild Mortgage, Eat Shasta, Aflac, ServPro, Haven Humane Society, and Budget Blinds, among others.

The morning gathering featured a complimentary continental-style breakfast, coffee, tea, and orange juice, along with a raffle offering a variety of prizes. These casual, engaging elements make the Greeters program, organized continuously by the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce, a popular weekly tradition for Chamber members and guests. It is hosted at local venues, businesses, and even offices. They serve as a key networking platform where hosts, such as the SHASTA UNFILTERED eNewspaper, can introduce their services to Chamber members while building stronger ties within the North State.

As explained by Rex Ballard, a reporter for the SHASTA UNFILTERED (SU) eNewspaper, the online publication offers free subscriptions simply by visiting SU’s website: ShastaUnfiltered.com. “Ever since SU launched in early September of 2025, we’ve strived to fill a “journalistic void,” particularly with more complete, honest news, with a focus on covering local events, such as the Shasta Lake Veterans Parade, Think Pink Car Show, Tehama County CattleWomen’s Fashion Show, the Redding Emblem and Elks Lodge Halloween Extravaganza, the Palo Cedro Fall Fair, Sequoia Middle School Fall Fair, the Burney VFW annual Ham Dinner, Kool April Nites, Nation’s Finest Winter Coat Drive, Shasta Jr. Wolves Fundraising Dinner and many others too numerous to mention,” Ballard said, “And we want to report international, national, regional and state news that directly impacts the North States population, as well as continuing to add new features to our wheelhouse, such as Pet-Of-The-Week, contributing writers, opinion pieces, Letters-To-The-Editor, the solicitation of donations, with a portion aimed for local charity and the like,” Ballard said.

The Frontier Senior Center, located at 2081 Frontier Trail, provided an ideal, indeed historical, community-oriented space for the event. According to the Chamber’s President and Executive Director, Dave Silva and Debe Hopkins, respectively, there is no charge for hosting—or attending—a Greeters program.
