Breaking News: A Shasta County jury deliberated over a three-day period and approximately 10 hours before delivering its verdict to Judge Thomas L. Bender.  Defendant, Jennifer O’Connell-Nowain, also known as Jenny Nowain, was found guilty of Penal Code §403- Willful disturbance of a public meeting, and deadlocked 11-1 on the second charge of Penal Code §148(a)(1) -Willfully delaying a peace officer in performing his duties. 

The Shasta County Board of Supervisors held their last meeting of the calendar year with new revelations from Chairman Kevin Crye about his health challenge and more cost-cutting measures ahead for the Social Services Budget under Shasta County’s Health and Human Services Agency.

$2.2 Million Marching Grant from Shasta County's Opioid Settlement Funds was awarded to The Good News Rescue Mission for a $21 Million Expansion Project Funded by the State of California. This will provide for a 75-bed in-patient substance abuse treatment facility which will be part of a two phase program for rehabilitation, training, housing, and long-term support for adults with substance abuse disorders.
