Shasta County voters participated in the Statewide Direct Primary Election and a special primary for Congressional District 1 on Tuesday, June 2.
These remain preliminary results. The June 4 evening update added more ballots, but thousands (including remaining vote-by-mail and provisional) are still being processed. Official certification is expected in early July. All figures are unofficial and subject to change.
Voter Turnout (Latest)
Ballots Cast: ~28,515
Registered Voters: 116,380
Turnout: Approximately 24.5% (rising as more ballots are counted)
Remaining Ballots to be Counted: ~29,507
Projected Turnout: 49.85% (low turnout)

Joanna Francescut: 58.11% (15,270 votes) — Lead widening
Clint Curtis (incumbent): 41.89% (11,008 votes)
Shasta County Supervisor, District 1
Erin Resner: 55.35% (2,999 votes) - Lead widening slightly
Kevin Crye (incumbent): 37.43% (2,028 votes)
Richard Gallardo: 7.22% (391 votes)
Shasta County Supervisor, District 5
Mike W. Gallagher: ~49.5% — Narrow lead
Chris Kelstrom (incumbent): ~40.8% (No candidate at 50%+1; runoff likely)

U.S. Representative – Congressional District 1 (Special Short Term) James Gallagher (R) has won outright (AP called the race).
James Gallagher (R): ~61.8–65%+ (dominant statewide/district lead, over 68,000 votes)
Audrey Denney (D): ~18.3%
Mike McGuire (D): ~18.0%
Others: under 2% each
Gallagher will fill the remainder of the late Rep. Doug LaMalfa’s term.

Summary
The latest statewide results confirm James Gallagher’s decisive victory in the CD1 special election. In Shasta County, many races remain too close to call. Erin Resner is in a strong position to win the District 1 seat for Supervisor. Joanna Francescut is in a strong position to win the ROV race. Yes on Measure B is in a strong position to pass as well. We will wait on the next results update before we call any races.
Statewide, the Governor’s race remains the marquee contest, with Steve Hilton and Xavier Becerra positioned to face off in November. Democratic incumbents are advancing comfortably in the Attorney General and Controller races and are expected to face off against Republican challengers in November.
Vote counting continues. The next significant Shasta update is expected tomorrow.
