Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks enter as the NFC's top seed, riding a wave of defensive dominance and offensive efficiency under quarterback Sam Darnold.

Strengths: Seattle features the NFL’s best defense, allowing just 15.2 points per game. Their aggressive pass rush (47 sacks) and explosive playmakers like wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and running back Kenneth Walker III give them a clear edge. Special teams have been elite, providing hidden edges in field position.

Weaknesses: The Seahawks struggle with turnovers (league-worst 13 lost fumbles) and can become one-dimensional when their passing game is contained. The run defense has shown vulnerabilities against physical backs like the Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson.

Injuries: The Seahawks' first injury report lists linebacker Ernest Jones IV (chest) and tackle Amari Kight (knee) as non-participants. Quarterback Sam Darnold (strained oblique) will see limited practice, along with tackle Charles Cross (foot), fullback Robbie Ouzts (neck), tackle Josh Jones (knee/ankle), safety Julian Love (shoulder), tight end Eric Saubert (hamstring), fullback Brady Russell (hand), linebacker Drake Thomas (shoulder), and receiver Jake Bobo (hand). However, most are expected to suit-up on game day. It will be important to keep an eye on Jones IV and Darnold as we get closer to kick-off.

Human Interest: Sam Darnold’s Incredible Redemption Once labled a phenomenal talent out of fabled USC and then labeled a bust after rocky stints with the Jets and Panthers, Sam Darnold has staged one of the greatest comebacks in recent NFL history. After reviving his career in Minnesota and later signing with Seattle, Darnold threw for over 4,000 yards this season and led the Seahawks to the No. 1 seed. His journey from being mocked to Super Bowl starting quarterback is the defining feel-good story of this game.

New England Patriots

The Patriots, as the AFC's second seed, have defied preseason odds (80-1 to win the Super Bowl) with a resilient, defense-first approach under head coach Mike Vrabel.

Strengths: New England's defense is a powerhouse, particularly against the run, ranking among the league's best in stopping ground attacks. This could neutralize Seattle's Kenneth Walker III. Quarterback Drake Maye has been a revelation, leading the NFL in passer rating and QBR despite heavy pressure. The passing game features reliable targets like Kayshon Boutte, and their "by any means necessary" style has won 16 of their last 17 games.

Weaknesses: The offensive line is a glaring issue, allowing 47 sacks on Maye (fourth-most in the league), which Seattle's pass rush could exploit. The offense has struggled in the postseason, scoring just 10 points in the AFC Championship. Over-reliance on Maye under duress could lead to turnovers or stalled drives.

Injuries: Quarterback Drake Maye (right shoulder) is limited after taking hits in the AFC Championship. Linebacker Harold Landry III (knee) was a non-participant early in the week but upgraded to limited. Linebacker Robert Spillane (ankle) and wide receiver Mack Hollins (shoulder) are also limited. Running back Terrell Jennings cleared concussion protocol but has a hamstring issue. All are expected to be ready to play come game time. The team appears mostly healthy otherwise.

Human Interest: Mike Vrabel Reviving the Patriots Dynasty: Mike Vrabel's return to New England as head coach has sparked a remarkable revival of the Patriots' storied dynasty. A former linebacker who won three Super Bowls with the team during the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick era, Vrabel was hired in the 2025 offseason after the Patriots parted ways with Jerod Mayo following a disappointing 4-13 campaign. Drawing on his experience as head coach of the Tennessee Titans—where he led them to multiple playoff appearances—Vrabel has instilled a tough, disciplined culture, rebuilding the roster with key draft picks like tackle Will Campbell, running back TreVeyon Henderson, and wide receiver Kyle Williams. Paired with rookie sensation Drake Maye, Vrabel has transformed a rebuilding squad into Super Bowl contenders, defying expectations and reigniting Foxborough's championship fire. His homecoming story embodies perseverance and legacy, making him a central figure in the Patriots' resurgence

Halftime Show Highlights

The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show will be headlined by Puerto Rican reggaeton superstar Bad Bunny, marking the first time a Latino and Spanish-speaking artist performs solo. Announced in September 2025, the performance promises a high-energy set celebrating Latin culture, with potential guest appearances from artists like Cardi B, Chencho Corleone, or Daddy Yankee. The selection of Bad Bunny has been surrounded by controversy due to his anti-ICE sentiments, prompting President Donald Trump to declare a boycott.

Alternative Halftime Show

In protest of Bad Bunny’s selection, Turning Point USA is airing a competing “All-American Halftime Show” focused on faith, family, and patriotism. The free stream will feature country music stars, worship, and English-language artists on YouTube, Rumble, and several conservative networks. A complete line-up has not yet been formally announced but it is rumored to include Nikki Minaj, Kid Rock, Jason Aldean, Morgan Wallen and Carrie Underwood.
