Pet of the Week: Duke (and his two cat buddies) need loving forever homes

Hi everyone! This week’s featured pets are a very special trio who deserve the absolute best. Their owner is going through major life changes in Redding, including a move that unfortunately means they can no longer keep them. It’s heartbreaking, but they’re determined to find the right homes where these guys will be cherished.

Meet Duke. Duke is a 7–8-year-old Lab/Pitbull mix, currently about 75 lbs, on a healthy diet and getting daily walks to drop those last 10 pounds. He’s a big, silly, loyal lovebug who lives for two things: his person and walks.

What Duke loves:

  • Long walks and off-leash adventures (he loves chasing squirrels and lizards, but comes back when called most of the time).

  • Being right by your side — he’ll happily lie next to you for hours.

  • Food! He’s very motivated and knows “sit” and “shake.”

  • He’s house-trained, stays out of kitchens and bathrooms on his own, and is overall a well-behaved gentleman.

Important notes for potential adopters:

  • He bonds very deeply with his person and does best with someone home most of the day. He gets depressed if left alone longer than about 6 hours.

  • He’s not a fan of kids and would do best in a home without young children.

  • He’s okay with other dogs if the match is right — he prefers a chill, lower-energy dog who isn’t pushy or alpha.

  • He already lives peacefully with cats (after they had a proper three-week introduction) and mostly ignores them now.

Duke is the kind of dog who makes you laugh every day with his silly personality and melts your heart with his loyalty. He just wants to be someone’s whole world.

His Two Cat Siblings

Duke’s feline housemates are a bonded pair who must stay together. One is feisty and full of personality (she keeps things lively!), while the other is incredibly sweet, adorable, and perfect. They need a cat-loving home where they’ll be spoiled and safe. They’ve been well-cared for and are ready for a calm, loving environment.

If you have a stable, loving home and can give Duke (and/or the cats) the attention and routine they need, please reach out! These animals have so much love to give and are hoping for their next chapter.

Duke’s owner has tons of photos and can share more details, videos of his silly antics, or answer any questions. Serious inquiries only — they want what’s truly best for him and the cats.

Thank you for helping spread the word.
