Redding Sports Park (RSP) opened as Big League Dreams (BLD) in 2004. Built with a 20 million dollar grant from the state, it didn't cost Redding a dime. The city leased our new sports park to BLD for 32 years, the first 4 rent free and 6% of the gross thereafter. BLD was responsible for the upkeep. That didn't happen so, where do we go from here?

No one seemed to notice that our sports park fell into disarray. It is my opinion the head of recreation and the city managers fell short when it came to keeping an eye on the park's maintenance. That's past, what do we do now with RSP?

The park needs $7-8 million that Redding doesn't have to bring it up to a standard we can be proud of. In fact Redding is broke and threatening to close our Sports Park now that Measure A failed. The city has demonstrated its inability to manage our sports park , so, what do we do now?

My thoughts are, GIVE the damned thing to a for profit or a non profit entity that will do the necessary repairs even if Redding has to give them some seed money to get going because at the end of the day, We want our sports park open for the enjoyment of our citizens, kids especially.

REU should provide electricity free for the first four years instead of rebates for battery powered bicycles and cars and the city could provide free water etc.

We the citizens of Redding want our Sports Park open!!!
