Lee Angela and Faren, proud daughters of Robert Lee “Bob” Reid, Jr., a long-time Cottonwood resident who passed away on November 16, 2025, have announced that their beloved father will receive a Celebration of Life on Sunday morning, January 4, 2026, at eleven o’clock.
The much anticipated event will take place at “Bob Reid Stadium” on the Anderson Union High School campus, 1471 Ferry Street, Anderson, California, 96007, with attendees encouraged to wear Cubs gear and dress for football weather. The weather forecast calls for a partly cloudy day.
Following the Celebration of Life, there will be a reception at the Shasta District Fair and Event Center, which begins at one o’clock. “We’re really pleased to be able to provide the venue for the reception,” remarked Shasta District Fair and Event, Executive Director, Melanie Silva, “as I’ve heard from many, primarily South County people, that he contributed a lot towards the betterment of not only Shasta County, but also not only for Anderson-ians, but really for all of Shasta County."
“Bob Reid was an institution in the South County, as a coach, a teacher and a mentor to hundreds of students at Anderson Union High School. He and his wife…..my soul sister…..Pat Reid, were known—-and loved—-by everyone, and were my dear friends,” said Trish Clarke, a former mayor of Anderson and a long-time member of the Shasta County Board of Supervisors and currently serving as president of Anderson’s Frontier Senior Center. “Bob and Pat were involved in everything positive that went on in Anderson,” Clarke continues, “and having the football field named after him, long before he passed away, was something he richly deserved; Bob’s death, as well as Pat’s, have left a hole in our community and our hearts,” concluded Clarke.
Robert Lee “Bob” Reid, Jr. was born in Bryson City, North Carolina, in 1938. and met Patricia “Pat” Crowley, a fellow student at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. “They were blissfully married for 59 wonderful years,” proud daughters Faren and Lee Angela remember. “And to have them as our parents was a true blessing.”
