Colt 45s Kick Off 2026 Season with Patriotic Home Opener at Tiger Field

Redding, CA – May 30, 2026 — Under the lights of historic Tiger Field, the Redding Colt 45s launched their 2026 summer collegiate baseball season on Friday, May 29, with a strong 2-0 shutout victory over the Watsonville Aggies.
The home opener against the Watsonville Aggies doubled as Honor Veterans Night, drawing a strong crowd of families, baseball fans, and local veterans. General Manager Rick Bosetti, the driving force behind the Colt 45s for over two decades, once again helped orchestrate a memorable evening at the ballpark he has helped nurture for the community.
Gates opened at 6:30 p.m., with first pitch at 7:15 p.m., setting the stage for another exciting summer of wooden-bat baseball in Shasta County.
A Night of Gratitude and Community
The evening centered on honoring local veterans. Special recognition went to those who have served, with moments of appreciation throughout the game. A highlight came when Redding Police Department K9 Officer Colt delivered a memorable ceremonial first pitch.
Rick Bosetti, a former Major League outfielder and longtime GM, emphasized the importance of the theme and community connection that defines the Colt 45s organization. His leadership continues to make Tiger Field a special place for players and fans alike.
Fans enjoyed classic ballpark fare, promotions, and the lively atmosphere that has made Colt 45s games a beloved summer tradition. The team, comprised of talented college players from across the country, brings minor-league-style excitement to Redding as part of an independent collegiate league.
