Some of you may be asking yourself, "Who is Spencer Pratt?"
Let me explain, in a city drowning in tents, trash, crime, and broken promises, Los Angeles voters are desperate for someone—anyone—who will actually say what’s obvious: the system is rigged, the leadership has failed, and “more programs” aren’t the answer. Enter Spencer Pratt.
Spencer Pratt is the former The Hills reality TV star, Instagram firebrand, and Pacific Palisades homeowner who watched his house burn to the ground in the 2025 Palisades Fire. He has officially thrown his hat into the ring for Mayor of Los Angeles in the June 2, 2026, primary. And no, this isn’t a celebrity stunt or a punchline. Pratt is gaining real traction and is now polling in a strong second place behind incumbent Karen Bass.

According to the latest UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs poll (released April 3, 2026), Bass leads at 25%, but Pratt has surged into second place at 11%, (other polls show him at 14%) ahead of City Councilmember Nithya Raman at 9%. Critically, 40% of likely voters remain undecided—making the race wide open and volatile heading into the primary.
Pratt’s campaign website puts it bluntly: “This is not a campaign. It’s a mission. ”He’s a husband and father who lost everything because City Hall and Sacramento punted on basic responsibilities like clearing brush, maintaining infrastructure, and getting resources to the front lines during emergencies. “I’m not a politician,” Pratt says. “I’m a husband and father who watched my home burn because the system failed us. We don’t need more government programs. We need common sense, accountability, and a Mayor that shows up for everyone.”
His Positions: Straight Talk on LA’s Biggest Crises
Pratt’s platform isn’t vague platitudes—it’s built around seven core pillars that cut through the progressive word salad dominating LA politics:
Crisis Leadership & Emergency Readiness: No more advisory committees and delays. Pratt wants a streamlined chain of command that empowers first responders, cuts middlemen, and actually protects lives and property when disaster hits. He lived the failure firsthand.
Public Safety & the Rule of Law: Zero tolerance for open-air fentanyl markets or criminals running wild. Pratt has vowed to lock up violent offenders—including illegal rapists, murderers, drug dealers, and child traffickers—and work directly with the federal government on ICE enforcement focused on public safety.
Treatment-First Approach to Homelessness: Enough with the encampments. Pratt is pushing “zero encampments” and “no fentanyl on the streets.” He wants to treat addiction and mental illness instead of enabling street chaos.
Fiscal Integrity, Government Reform, and Anti-Corruption: Pratt is on a mission to “expose the system” and “disinfect” City Hall. He’s targeting waste, fraud, and the insider political machine that protects itself while Angelenos suffer.
Infrastructure, Economic Opportunity, Small Business Empowerment, and Utility Accountability: He’s talking quality of life, affordability, and protecting ratepayers—issues ignored while insiders and special interests feast.
In interview after interview, Pratt has hammered the same theme: LA’s current leaders have turned basic governance into a death sentence for the city. He’s not interested in partisan labels (he’s running nonpartisan despite being a registered Republican) and says he’ll work with anyone who wants to fix the mess.
Watch Spencer Pratt lay it all out on Joe Rogan (mid-April episode):
The Carolla Endorsement (and More High-Profile Backing): Credibility from Outsiders
On April 21, 2026, comedian and podcast host Adam Carolla went all-in after a no-filter conversation about California’s failures. Carolla posted: “This man is going to save LA. @spencerpratt has my full endorsement for mayor!”
Watch Adam Carolla’s full endorsement reaction:
Joe Rogan also publicly backed the idea that Pratt “makes a lot of f**king sense” and is uncovering real fraud, telling him on the podcast, “I’m rooting for you… If I lived in Los Angeles, no question whatsoever I would vote for you.”
Even former co-star Kristin Cavallari told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live (April 22) that she initially thought Pratt’s run was a joke but now believes “he could actually pull it off.”
Why He’s One of the Few Speaking Common Sense
Los Angeles is bleeding: record homelessness, skyrocketing crime in some areas, unaffordable housing, failing infrastructure, and a mayor whose approval is tanking. The other candidates? Mostly more of the same—progressive insiders, (Democratic Socialists of America) DSA-backed voices, or long-shot also-rans offering the same failed policies that got us here and are currently crushing New York City with newly elected, DSA backed, mayor Zoran Mamdani.
Pratt is different. He has no political machine to protect. No donor class to appease. He lost his own home to government incompetence and turned that rage into a platform that actually addresses what everyday Angelenos see every day: tents on sidewalks, needles in parks, and politicians more worried about optics than outcomes.
Critics will scoff that he’s “just a reality star.” But voters aren’t buying it anymore. They’ve tried the career politicians. They’ve tried the “experts.” They’ve tried the compassion-without-accountability approach. It’s produced tent cities, closed businesses, and a city that feels increasingly unlivable.
Pratt’s message is simple: enough. Time to clear the encampments, enforce the laws, hold officials accountable, and make LA “camera-ready” again—not just for influencers and tourists, but for the families who actually live here.
Should Spencer Pratt be taken seriously? In a city this broken, the real question is: can LA afford not to? The June 2 primary is coming fast. Angelenos tired of the same old song might just be ready to hit play on something new.
