Shasta County Election Update: Ballot Tabulation Continues – June 7, 2026

As of the latest unofficial results posted Sunday evening (June 7, 2026), Shasta County elections officials have processed most of the ballots from the June 2 Primary Election. The Election Office aims to complete tabulation tomorrow, with the next update expected by 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 8.


Note: These are preliminary, unofficial results. Approximately 4,669 ballots remain to be counted across the County and an unknown number across the districts; final certified results will be released after the full canvass process.


Shasta County Supervisorial District 1

  • Erin Resner: 54.52% (4,435 votes)

  • Kevin Crye (Incumbent): 38.20% (3,107 votes)

  • Richard Gallardo: 7.28% (592 votes)

Resner maintains a strong lead.


Shasta County Supervisorial District 5

  • Mike W. Gallagher: 48.85% (4,270 votes)

  • Chris Kelstrom (Incumbent): 41.49% (3,627 votes)

  • Gary Allen Oxley: 9.66% (844 votes)

Gallagher holds a narrow lead over incumbent Kelstrom. No candidate has reached a majority yet.


County Clerk & Registrar of Voters

  • Joanna Francescut: 58.13% (26,899 votes)

  • Clint Curtis: 41.87% (19,375 votes)

Francescut continues to lead comfortably in this key race.


Measure B (Voter ID, Hand-Counting, Election Reforms)

  • Yes: 55.19% (26,683 votes)

  • No: 44.81% (21,667 votes)

The initiative to amend the Shasta County Charter with election security measures remains ahead.


U.S. Representative in Congress, District 2 – Full Term

Shasta County results:

  • Robin Littau (R): 36.09% (17,181 votes)

  • Jared Huffman (D, incumbent): 20.67% (9,838 votes)

  • Other candidates trail.

Districtwide results (as of latest available):

  • Jared Huffman (D): 46.3% (68,423 votes) — leading

  • Robin Littau (R): 16.1% (23,748 votes) — second place

  • Others: Tim Geist (R) 8.2%, Angelita Valles (R) 8.1%, etc.

Huffman and Littau are positioned to advance to November under California’s top-two primary system.


U.S. Representative in Congress, District 1 – Short Term (Special Election)

Shasta County results:

  • James Gallagher (R): 66.56% (32,645 votes)

  • Audrey Denney (D): 16.08% (7,885 votes)

  • Mike McGuire (D): 15.54% (7,622 votes)

Districtwide results (as of latest available):

  • James Gallagher (R):  61.3% (87,830)

  • Audrey Denney (D): 18.8% (26,997)

  • Mike McGuire (D): 17.9% (25,714)

Gallagher appears well-positioned to win this special contest decisively.


State Assembly District 1

Shasta County results:

  • Heather Hadwick (R): 54.57% (26,197 votes)

  • Dianna Margaret James (D): 28.59% (13,723 votes)

  • Darin Hale (R): 16.84% (8,084 votes)

Districtwide results (as of latest available):

  • Heather Hadwick (R): 50.8% (68,279 votes) — leading

  • Dianna Margaret James (D): 35.8% (48,126 votes)

  • Darin Hale (R): 13.5% (18,114 votes)

Hadwick holds a commanding lead.
