Tribal leadership, including Chairman Jack Potter, CEO Tracey Edwards and General Manager Don Hayward, plus many members of the Redding Rancheria, the area’s business and civic leaders—and Tribe supporters- came together to break bread and share fellowship for a State Of The Tribe Luncheon, held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the Win-River Resort And Casino Event Center in Redding, California.
The Redding Rancheria is a federally recognized Tribe whose members are of Pit River, Yama, and Wintu descent. The Rancheria operates the Tribe’s administration offices, the Redding Rancheria Head Start and Child Care, the Redding Rancheria Tribal Health Center, Churn Creek Health Center, Win-River Mini Mart, Win-River Resort and Casino, and the Hilton Garden Inn.
The main purpose of the 8th-annual State of The Tribe Luncheon was to raise funds for the Redding Rancheria Community Fund (RRCF), established 24 years ago, which has donated nearly $5 million to non-profits in Shasta and Trinity counties. The RRCF encourages proposals to serve Native Americans, youth, and/or rural populations. In the public safety and emergency services arena, the RRCC has benefited the American Red Cross, Northern California Chapter; the Shasta County Search and Rescue Team; the Weaverville Fire Protection District; and the Lewiston Sparkles, among others.
Other non profits that have received RRCF funds include Mayers Health Care Foundation; Shingletown Medical Center; Haven Humane Society; One Safe Place; Children’s Legacy Center; Big Bend Community Center; Girls Inc. of the Sacramento Valley; Hooked On Healing; Hayfork High School Athletics; Mountain Gate Firefighters Association; Trinity Animal Shelter Auxiliary; Viva Downtown; Shasta Lake Fire Protection District; Tri County Community Network; Pit River Tribe Day Care; Tree of Life International Charter School; Nor-Cal Alliance For The Missing; The Watershed Research and Training Center Southern Cascades Community Services District, among others.
Also discussed at the State Of The Tribe Luncheon was the Tribe’s recent federal approval to construct a new Win-River Resort and Casino, encompassing close to 70,000 square feet, plus a nine-story hotel, in the Strawberry Fields off Interstate 5, in the southeast part of Redding, California.
Also, in March of 2025, ground has been broken for the construction of a Health and Infrastructure Tribal Health Village, a 232 million dollar facility in Shasta County, which will feature cardiology, dermatology, and acupuncture services, healthy cooking classes, pool and spa… and is expected to be up and running in early 2027.
