Pet of the Week: Bodie

Looking for a big, lovable goofball to brighten your days?

Meet Bodie, a handsome, short-haired, tri-colored mixed breed with a striking coat and an even bigger heart. With his sturdy build and beautiful markings, he looks like he may have some Rottweiler and possibly Bernese Mountain Dog in his family tree—but whatever his mix, Bodie is 100% one-of-a-kind.

Bodie is a playful, fun-loving boy who enjoys making the most of every day. Whether he's exploring the yard, playing with his favorite toys, or spending time with his people, he's happiest when he's included in the action. His cheerful personality and affectionate nature make him a wonderful companion for a family or individual looking for a loyal best friend.

As a large dog, Bodie would thrive with an adopter who appreciates big breeds and can provide him with regular exercise, enrichment, and plenty of love. In return, he'll reward you with endless companionship, goofy smiles, and unconditional devotion.

As Cheri from Shasta Lake Animal Shelter shared:

“Look at these pictures.

These are the many faces of Bodie. 🥹💙

The goofy face.

The huge smile.

The tongue hanging out. 😂The happy boy playing in the yard.

The face of a dog who is simply LOVING LIFE when he gets a chance to be outside of his kennel.

But there is one picture that stands out from all the others to me…The one in the middle.

Bodie behind the kennel fence.

That is Bodie’s reality.”

Bodie was picked up as a stray on July 8th, and since then that kennel has been his home. Those big happy smiles happen when he gets to run, play with his toys, splash around, and just be Bodie. Then playtime ends… and he goes back behind the fence.

With limited space and more dogs expected soon, Bodie is at risk. He isn’t asking for anything extraordinary—just someone to throw his toys, let him splash in a kiddie pool, laugh at his ridiculous faces, give him belly rubs and treats, and tell him, “You’re home, Bodie.”

He was already abandoned once. Please don’t let his story end behind a kennel fence.

If you're ready to welcome a playful, handsome pup into your life, Bodie is ready to meet you. Come see if this sweet boy is the missing piece of your family!

Please share Bodie. His life may depend on it.
