If you were looking for a parking spot in Downtown Redding on Friday night (10-9-‘26) between five and eight o’clock, and found it a little challenging to find one,  it might’ve been because of the large, weekend-ready crowd gathered at 1504 Market Street, with the  Whistlestop Park stage front and center, for the 4th annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration or La Herencia Hispana.

Organized by Red Bluff-based marketing professional Arcelia Gutierrez-Renteria, sponsored by Familia de Caballo and ably assisted by Viva Downtown’s Blake Fisher, the Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration featured a variety of entertaining—indeed informative—things to enjoy, such as colorfully dressed Folklorico Dancers, a horse parade that wowed the youngsters, several kids' activities, a live band, a photo booth and… of course… food.

“It is an honor that we come together to recognize and celebrate Hispanic Heritage,” remarked Gutierrez-Renteria, “because Hispanic Heritage is more than a celebration; it is a recognition of the generations of families, leaders, business owners, educators, artists, workers, and community members whose contributions have helped shape and strengthen our communities.”

Gutierrez-Renteria continues:  “Our heritage is reflected in our traditions, our language, our food, our faith and, most importantly, in the values passed from one generation to the next:  family, hard work, resilience, respect and service to others.”

Gutierrez-Renteria continues:  “We celebrate where we come from, we honor those who came before us, and we recognize the opportunities we are creating for the generations that will follow.  May we continue to share our culture with pride, support one another, and build a community where every voice—and every story—is valued,” Gutierrez-Renteria concludes.
