COMEDY CARES – Bringing Hope for the Unhoused in Redding

For the past few decades, I have worked as a professional clean comedian entertaining audiences of all sizes including churches, corporate events, community events, cruise ships and more. Last year I had the joy of filming a Dry Bar Comedy Special which is an online clean stand-up comedy show featuring top clean comedians. (www.drybarcomedy.com)

As I drive around Redding, it’s difficult to miss the abundance of men, women and families who are living on our streets for various reasons. Not everyone seeks help for their situation, but some do.

I began seeking the Lord for a way that I might combine my growing passion to help these individuals with my skills in comedy and entertainment, an idea came forth.

COMEDY CARES

Comedy Cares is a comedy benefit show designed to bring awareness to the plight of Redding’s un-housed, offering ideas and suggestions on how our community might be able to bring hope to these folks.

The first Comedy Cares event is on January 30 at 7pm. This free event will take place at Redding Performing Arts Center located at 3274 Bechelli Lane in Redding. The event will feature some of Redding’s top comedians as well as a few surprises. All the comedians and our host venue are offering their talent and space free of charge!

Also on hand will be representatives from various organizations who regularly bring aid to those in need. These partner groups include The Salvation Army, Good News Rescue Mission, Faith Works, Shasta Thrive and Nation’s Finest.

Our hope is that many from our community will come out for a night of fun, free entertainment and support our efforts to bring awareness of the situation and hope to the un-housed.

There is no official admission fee for this event. However, attendees can find a list of needed items at our website, www.comedy-cares.com. We are inviting audience members to bring something from that list to be placed in bins that will be available at the event.
