AUHSD Teacher Investigation Ongoing Despite Alleged Move Out of State; Parents Demand Accountability and Clear Policies

Concerns over an Anderson Union High School District (AUHSD) teacher’s controversial social media post continue to draw public scrutiny, even as reports emerge that the instructor may be leaving the district and relocating out of state.

The case centers on Anthony Howard-Erevia, a teacher at Anderson High School and West Valley Early College High School. In early April 2026, he allegedly shared an Instagram post from his account (@mr_howard_goes_west) that encouraged interference with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations. The post included suggestions such as messing up food/drink orders, providing false information, overtightening lug nuts, disrupting with noise and lights, and shaming agents.

A concerned parent filed a formal complaint, arguing the content promoted illegal activities, violated public trust, and exposed students to inappropriate material from a public employee. The original Shasta Unfiltered report detailed the parent’s demands for disciplinary action.

At a recent AUHSD board meeting, citizens addressed the issue during public comment. Multiple speakers argued that the teacher’s reported departure does not resolve the matter. They urged the district to complete its investigation, issue any appropriate reprimand, and ensure the violation is documented in the teacher’s official record.

Parents emphasized the need for transparency and precedent-setting. “Although the teacher in question... is allegedly leaving the District and may be moving out of state, his official record must reflect his actions while in the employ of AUHSD,” one parent stated in related public communications. They also called on AUHSD to establish clear policies preventing similar violations by other teachers and employees.

District officials have confirmed the investigation remains active. AUHSD indicated it is not yet complete and will provide an update at a future board meeting. Per district policy, the investigation has up to 60 days to conclude.

The board has not issued a final public determination on disciplinary measures as of this reporting. The case echoes broader community discussions in Shasta County about educator conduct on personal social media and its impact on schools.
