Winter Storm Brings Chain Controls and Crashes to Northern California Highways
A powerful winter storm continued to batter Northern California today, prompting mandatory chain screenings on Interstate 5 and reports of hazardous conditions leading to vehicle collisions with snow plows.
According to Caltrans District 2, as of approximately 8:24 a.m. PST, all vehicles traveling northbound on Interstate 5 (I-5) are being screened for chains at Pollard Flat in Shasta County due to active winter weather. Vehicles without chains are not permitted to proceed. C
