The store, located at the Shasta Gateway Outlets (also known as Shasta Outlets) along Highway 273 in Anderson, was part of the national retailer’s full retreat from physical stores in the United States and Canada. Local videos captured the final days of operation in late March 2026, showing deep liquidation discounts as the location prepared to shut down permanently.

Eddie Bauer built its reputation in the early 20th century (founded in Seattle, WA in 1920) as a dependable American brand focused on innovation and quality. From pioneering down-filled garments and expedition gear to outfitting iconic adventures and U.S. military needs, it stood for rugged reliability with all of its early products made in America. Today, it stands as a shadow of its former self — its North American physical stores gone and much of its current lineup consisting of foreign-made items sold primarily through online channels.

National Context: All U.S. and Canadian Stores Closed

The Anderson closure is not isolated. In February 2026, Eddie Bauer LLC — the operator of the brand’s North American retail stores — filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The company, which as of the beginning of 2026 had roughly 220 stores in the U.S. and Canada, could not find a buyer for its brick-and-mortar operations. An auction was canceled in early March, and liquidation sales across the remaining locations wrapped up by late April 2026.

All physical Eddie Bauer stores in the United States and Canada have now closed. The brand itself continues online at eddiebauer.com and through wholesale and international channels (which operate under separate licensing).

What This Means for Shasta County

For residents of Redding, Anderson, and surrounding areas, the Eddie Bauer Outlet offered convenient access to outdoor apparel, jackets, hiking gear, and casual clothing suited to our lifestyle — whether heading to Shasta Lake, the Trinity Alps, or local trails.

With the store now gone, locals will increasingly turn to online ordering or other retailers for similar products. The closure reflects broader challenges facing traditional mall and outlet retail, even as demand for outdoor and adventure gear remains strong in our region.

Where to Shop Eddie Bauer Now
