DeLauro’s Purple-Haired Meltdown: Democrats Treat Climate Change Like a Religion in Explosive Showdown with EPA Chief Lee Zeldin

I have been calling it for years: the left doesn’t “believe” in climate change — they worship it. And on Monday, April 28, 2026, that religious zeal was on full, unhinged display during a House Appropriations Committee hearing on the EPA’s FY2027 budget.

Watch the full heated exchange here

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin — the no-nonsense Trump appointee who actually believes in following the law instead of chasing green fairy tales — calmly dismantled Connecticut Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro’s climate sermon. What followed wasn’t policy debate. It was a full-blown Democratic faith crisis.

DeLauro, sporting her signature purple hair and the righteous indignation of a high priestess, ripped into Zeldin’s budget proposal. “It reads like a climate change denier’s manifesto,” she fumed, accusing the administration of “abandoning its duty to protect Americans from climate change.”

Zeldin, unfazed, hit her with cold, hard statute and Supreme Court precedent. “Following the law,” he replied. “Section 202 of the Clean Air Act. Where does it say anything about fighting global climate change?” He then schooled her on Loper Bright, the major questions doctrine, West Virginia v. EPA, and Michigan v. EPA.

DeLauro? Blank stare. She admitted she had no idea what he was talking about. Then came the meltdown.

“You do NOT have the right to say climate change does not exist, that it’s a hoax!” she raged, voice rising, logic vanishing. She interrupted, talked over him, declared “I don’t have to listen to this BS,” and at one point bizarrely suggested he drink weed killer. Zeldin rightly called her “uninformed.”

This wasn’t a policy disagreement. This was a heretic being confronted by the high priestess of the Church of Climate. Question the dogma? You’re not just wrong — you’re evil.

Democrats have turned “climate change” into their golden calf. It justifies everything: trillions in spending, shutting down pipelines, banning gas stoves, electric vehicle mandates that wreck the grid, and regulatory overreach that crushes American energy independence.

Zeldin’s sin? Pointing out that the EPA’s job is to follow the law as written — not invent a climate crusade Congress never authorized. For that, he got the full inquisitor treatment from DeLauro.

This exchange wasn’t an outlier. It’s Exhibit A of how the modern Democratic Party operates: emotion over evidence, zeal over law, apocalypse over reality.

Lee Zeldin did what every American should demand from their officials: read the statute, respect the Constitution, and refuse to bow at the altar of manufactured panic. DeLauro exposed the cult. The American people are watching — and we’re done with the sermon.
