Anderson Chamber Greeters Visit Discount Tire Outlet, Where Family Service and Safety Come First

The Anderson Chamber of Commerce (ACC) held its Wednesday morning "Greeters" gathering at Discount Tire Outlet, 20290 Charlanne Drive (off Airport Road) in Redding, giving local business owners and members a firsthand look at a family-run shop that has served Shasta County since 2013. Owner Tim Johnson shared what sets the shop apart, longtime team member Dustin described the shop’s speed and professionalism, and front-desk staffer Ana welcomed guests with homemade chocolate chip cookies.
Greeters is the Chamber’s weekly networking program, where a host business introduces itself, its people, and its services. The ACC’s purpose is to help public and private sectors improve productivity, promote Anderson as an economic, educational, and recreation center, and connect members through events like this. Typical mornings run from about 8 to 9 a.m.: a short welcome, introductions and announcements, a 30-minute host presentation, Q&A, and brief networking. Hosts provide coffee and breakfast snacks.
Integrity, safety, and the little things
Tim framed the shop’s difference as “ingredients”—who they are and how they work. Integrity, doing what’s right, and helping customers come first. The team offers free evaluations and inspections, a loaner-tire program so a driver with a bad tire can stay mobile while waiting for service, and a firm line on safety: they will not repair or install anything that is not safe. “Your safety is our first concern,” he said. He even joked that he has loaned out his own car when needed.
He pointed to small touches most shops skip: centering wheel caps after a rotation, automatic emails reminding customers about rotations so tires last longer, Synchrony financing, and a rewards program that returns points and money on tire purchases. The shop sponsors community events and is still learning how to do more of that work. Wait times average 20 to 30 minutes. Reviews, he noted, reflect a 100 percent focus on customer service—even though no one is perfect.
The business is family-run. Tim’s 16-year-old works there, and Dustin’s son is around often. Coffee, water, and cookies are usually waiting. Tim praised his staff: “I can’t succeed without them,” he said.
