Shasta County supervisors were scheduled today to consider approving a major overhaul of the Cottonwood sewer system that would nearly quintuple the one-time capital improvement fee charged to new development — from roughly $6,279 per household equivalent (HE) to $28,300 — while authorizing a roughly $37.9 million (2022 dollars) upgrade to the aging wastewater treatment plant.
