In early August 2025, Jefferson Amaya-Ayala, a teenager from the Brightwood neighborhood in Northwest Washington, D.C., was reported missing after being last seen on August 2. Human remains found in College Park identified as missing 14-year-old boy - Investigators later determined he had been lured to Indian Creek Stream Valley Park in College Park, Maryland, where he was attacked and killed the same day. His remains were not discovered until November 3, 2025.
